The ultimate Amsterdam pocket guide

The ultimate Amsterdam pocket guide

By Aeden Official

Amsterdam is one of the most important capitals in Europe, being as multicultural as any other big city while still maintaining the cozy charm of a village for visitors. With just under a million residents, the city nearly doubles in population during key international events such as ADE (Amsterdam Dance Event) and King's Day.

Our ultimate Amsterdam pocket guide is perfect for those seeking the coolest spots in town for food, drinks, people-watching, entertainment, and culture. Whether you're a local craving a routine change or a visitor seeking an authentic experience, we’ve got you covered.

TO EAT & DRINK

LeBron James and Nike, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, smash burger and… wine?

Kikkie’s, Prinsenstraat 30 — We start our list strong, with the best smash burger in town (and we dare to say, one of the best ones in Europe) from Kikkie’s. We know the classic pairing of burger & milkshake, beer or soda but, for us and Sjeord Kist, nothing pairs better than Kikkie’s burger with a good glass of natural wine.

Sjoerd wears the IVAR tee in black, BEAM shorts in black, and CALVIN jacket in sea foam.

Stack’s Diner, De Clercqstraat 32
— Great for brunch & dinner, Stack’s is an authentic Southern diner with mouth-watering food and a great negroni. Must try: the dry-aged steak which is sold by weight and their biscuits (we’d recommend the bacon, egg and cheese one).

Gertrude

Gertrude, Bosboom Toussaintstraat 28 — Set on one of the prettiest streets in Amsterdam, Gertrude is the ideal French bistro for a date night or an impressive dinner with the in-laws. Must-try: smoked butter and pommes fondantes cooked in chicken fat.

Cornerstore

Cornerstore, Papaverweg 11
— In Noord, this spot offers Asian-inspired dishes paired with vinyl sets. Choose from sharing plates or a set menu for a full experience.
